Linda Tan was born and raised in Philadelphia. She entered the Franciscan Sisters of Baltimore in 1964. She has ministered as a teacher and a principal in an elementary school, as well as director of the Franciscan Center, a social service agency in Baltimore City. She served in congregational leadership as a member of the council from 1982-1990 and as General Minister from 1990-1998. In 2001, the Franciscan Sisters of Baltimore merged with the Sisters of St. Francis of Milwaukee. She moved to Milwaukee in 2003 after being elected to the Leadership Team for a four-year term. She holds a BA in English from Mt. St. Agnes College in Baltimore, an MA in Administration of Religious Education from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, and an MA in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and holds a Fellowship in the administration of non-profit organizations from Notre Dame University in Baltimore.
