Sr. Jean is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, La Crosse, WI. She professed first vows in 1983 and made her final profession in 1989. She was born in Chuquicamata, Chile and raised in Brookfield, WI (Milwaukee area). She holds a B.S. degree in Secondary Education – Spanish from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1975), a M.A.T. in Secondary Education – Spanish from Purdue University (1977), a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction of Second Languages and Cultures Education from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (1991) and a M.A. in Franciscan Studies from the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University (2010).
Originally a high school Spanish teacher for 4 years, and later an associate professor of Spanish, the Dean of the School of Letters and Sciences, and the Vice President of Student Life during a 15-year tenure at Viterbo University in La Crosse.
Presently she ministers as the Director of Mission Integration for her FSPA congregation working with the employees and trustees of the hospitals, university and spirituality centers sponsored by her congregation. She conducts retreats, employee in-service programs, workshops and discussion groups primarily on the integration of Franciscan spirituality, servant leadership, and values orientation within an institutional context in the US and in Bolivia.
Her passions are being an “animator” of all things Franciscan for others, learning about other cultures, shaping wood, silver and glass into something beautiful and useful, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
