Pilgrimage cost includes: pensioni that is clean, comfortable, secure and well located; three meals per day with few exceptions; transportation by air-conditioned coach; all tips, offerings and sanctuary fees; books, notebooks, full services of staff; daily input with lectures and conferences. We ask that all pilgrims meet our staff at Fiumicino Airport (Rome) or Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) outside of Customs at noon on Day 2 of the pilgrimage (Day 1 is a travel day). Our buses will leave soon thereafter. If you miss the bus, you will be responsible to meet the group at your first hotel.
2019 Final Vow Pilgrimage. Friars from across the Franciscan world journeyed to Rome and Assisi, Italy for 25 days.
A special pilgrimage for friars and sisters preparing for life profession of vows. Friars and sisters from all the branches of the Franciscan family are invited to participate in this comprehensive program.
By means of this new pilgrimage, friars and sisters preparing for their life profession of religious vows are invited to explore the holy places that played a role in the conversion process of SS. Francis and Clare and their followers, visiting all of the extant sanctuaries. The hidden power of sacred place will be experienced through lectures, rituals, prayer, Eucharistic celebrations, study, and process time shared with pilgrim companions.
In addition to visiting all the significant sites in Assisi, you will spend time in the Rieti Valley and Rome, and experience the splendor of La Verna and Cortona in Tuscany. Emphasis will be placed more on the “study” aspect by the depth of information, the large number of sites visited, as well as input specifically intended for those preparing for religious commitment. Likewise, there is a significant amount of time set aside for quiet reflection, prayer and discussion.
At the end of the pilgrimage, pilgrims interested in experiencing an intensive seven-day retreat will be able to go to the sanctuary at Mount La Verna in Tuscany and spend time in solitude and retreat, directed by various retreat leaders.
Details (subject to change) Overseas flight to Rome ROME [4 Days] You will visit St. Peter’s Basilica, St. John Lateran, (the baptistry of the Franciscan Order and the Vatican of Francis’ day), Tagliacozzo, where Thomas of Celano is buried, and San Francesco a Ripa. RIETI [4 Days] Visits to the sanctuaries include: Fonte Colombo, Poggio Bustone, La Foresta and Greccio where Francis dramatized the Christmas event. ASSISI [15 Days] Every significant place associated with SS. Francis and Clare will be visited, accompanied by lectures, readings, study and prayer. Lago Trasimeno, Le Celle di Cortona and La Verna are one day excursions. ROME Depart for USA.
