Wisdom Figures in the Franciscan Tradition
Following the successful Franciscan Intellectual Tradition Pilgrimage to England, this pilgrimage continues our consideration of that tradition by traveling to places hallowed by the life and teaching of St. Bonaventure and Blessed John Duns Scotus. Our pilgrimage will take us from Cologne to Paris to Lyon where we will listen to prominent European scholars sharing their passion for these two masters and the Franciscan tradition. From centrally located bases in these cities we will also visit the earliest settlement of the friars in France at Vezelay and the beautiful medieval city of Avignon with its papal palace and echoes of the Spirituals.
Our pilgrimage will take us to the Cathedral in Cologne and the tomb of Scotus in the Minoritenkirchel to Parish residing at Sacre Coeur and visiting sites associated with St. Bonaventure and the friars, including the Abbey of St. Denis, tha Pantheon and the Sante Chappelle; to Lyon to tis cathedral and the burial church of St. Bonaventure, where we will celebrate Eucharist on his feast.
