Pilgrimage for Students
You are invited to make a pilgrimage to Assisi, Rome and other places associated with SS. Francis and Clare. Through a pilgrimage experience, you are drawn closer to God by being in sacred places which spiritually enrich one’s life. You receive daily input from a professional staff. You will pray, relax and associate with students from many different Franciscan educational institutions in the United States.
This is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Franciscan values that your college/university embodies. These values are tools for deepening your relationship with God, family, society and all creation.
It starts at ...
the medieval city of Assisi, the center of the Franciscan movement. There will be visits to the Porziuncola (small chapel) and San Damiano, where Francis and Clare lived. You’ll see beautiful La Verna, where Francis received the stigmata (Christ’s wounds) and pray in the Basilicas of St. Francis and St. Clare, where they are buried. The group will celebrate Christmas in Greccio, because that’s where Francis re-enacted the Christmas drama.
Then off to ....
Rome where you’ll visit St. Peter’s Basilica and have the opportunity to visit other sanctuaries in the eternal city on your own.
How do I get to go?
A contact person on your campus will assist you in registering and preparing for this pilgrimage. That person will also guide you in meeting the requirements if you wish to receive academic credit from your college or university for participating in this program.
